The recipe will tell you to mix apples in your rectangle pan that you are going to cook them in. I prefer to mix the apples and the first mix in a large bowl then add it to your rectangle pan. I like to use a glass rectangle pan spray the bottom and put slices bits of butter or margarine before the apple mixture is put in. I once tried it in a rectangle pan and then foiled it and the foil stuck to the pan and it made a mess to clean it off the pan. If you try this I hope these tips help. :).
